In search for the edge of the world
The last two days were dominated by waterfalls, lots of waterfalls.
It started with a nameless waterfall, which already looked impressive, but it would only get better. Later followed Låtefossen, a twin waterfall consisting of two different streams coming together in a violent thunderous body of water.
So today I hiked the Preikestolen trail. It was said to be a challenging trail by the Stavanger tourist information, however except for some poor weather it was not to difficult in my opinion.
Preikestolen is a steep cliff which rises about 600 metres above the Lysefjorden. Atop the cliff, there is a flat top of 25 by 25 metres.
After checking out the cannons of Kristiansand I moved on to Stavanger. The first part of the drive went over the highway, but later I switched over to the North Sea Road. This coastal route crosses small villages, fjords and fisheries. Quite some spectacular views and an impressive first impression of Norway.
After a nice breakfast in the dunes near Tornby I went to the harbour of Hirtshals to check out the availability of ferry tickets to Kristiansand. The plan was to sail off the next day and spend an other night at this nice spot in the dunes. After gaining the required information the conclusion was that sailing off the same day would be cheaper, probably because it’s a Thursday and not a Friday. So a ticket was bought for the evening ferry. Enough time was left to check out Skagen, a cute though touristy town in the north eastern tip of Denmark.

It was getting time to move up north, so today I left Djursland. I first visited the charming city of Aalborg
Yesterday I drove to Djursland, the peninsula north east of Aarhus. I found a nice shelter with fireplace and parking in the surroundings where I decided to setup camp, but first I took the bicycle to check out the old port town Ebeltoft.
Yesterday I crossed Denmark, from the Wadden coast on the west to the city of Aarhus, this years European capital of Culture, on the east of Jutland. Upon arrival quite a lot of construction works were going on. Tram lines and stops were being constructed and a large globe was being installed, which was supposed to become an art installation, I found out later. A bit late, if you ask me, since the city is already for five months the European capital of Culture.
After waking up I quickly left the road side parking area to find myself a better place to have breakfast. I ended up at a nice parking along the Wadden Sea, if only I knew of this spot before, as it would have been a much better place to spend the night. There were some picknick tables and a great view over the Wadden. Well, at least I enjoyed a a nice breakfast here.
Today didn’t really meet my expectations, unfortunately. I started the morning at the nice beach side spot where I spend last night and went to visit Odense, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. Unfortunately the whole city centre was under construction. Not a single piece was kept untouched.
Yesterday morning I left Copenhagen in the morning, I decided to keep the rest of the city for an dedicated city trip. I drove north to Helsingør where the UNESCO World Heritage site Kronborg Castle is situated.
